Nevilin Atnasov managed to go through some tough competition and took the gold medal for junior boys, category -75 kg.

Danaila Cherneva didn’t have any problems eliminating her opponents up to the final where she fought against Agnieszka Sipien (Poland) and the judges voted a draw. A weight check followed and there was not a 10 kg weight difference. Consequently, Danaila lost by the number of boards broken (9 for Danaila, 10 for Agnieszka). Despite loosing at the final, she took the Women Best Spirit award. An interesting fact is that the last year Danaila won against Agnieszka in the regular time at the final.
Petar Martinov’s fights were one of the strongest among those of the favourites at this championship. He took the title for Men Best Tameshiwari – a total of 21 boards which he broke with 4 different techniques. At the semi-final Petar stood up against the European Champion – Alejandro Navarro (Spain) and lost by decision of the judges for a draw and weight difference in favour of Navarro.
Stanislava Boicheva, who traditionally has been winning the gold medal in each competition, this time became second after the judges voted for the Ukrainian competitor. Our other girls – Alexandra Marinova and Nazife Sabri didn’t manage to get the judges support neither and became 2nd and 5th respectively.
During 3 days were held nine trainings. Seven Shihan were observing all the competitors and have given ratings for technique, strength, tenacity and more. Finally was determined the Representative Team of Europe. Each country was presented by maximum 5 participants. A big success achieved the Bulgarian fighters – from 5 fighters – 4 of them came in the representative team. From 115 competitors only 19 found place among the chosen. To come in the team the fighters had to receive at least 5 from 7 votes. Finally the happy men who were chosen for the European team received certificates from Shihan Hollander.
